Frequently Asked Questions
We at Rewo consider ourselves in many ways to be a pioneering company in a very established and traditional furniture and interior industry. When using non-traditional materials, we find that customers and stakeholders have several questions about what we can do and how it works, so below we have attached an overview that we hope can answer your questions.
What do you mean by surplus/residual materials? And how much of the materials you use are surplus materials?
- The materials Rewo uses are exclusively surplus materials from Norwegian stair production. We also refer to this as "residual materials". These are materials that arise during the production of Stryntrappa (Norway's largest supplier of stairs) when stair treads are milled out in production. Normally, these materials would have been burned and used as firewood. This means that even though it is called surplus material, it has exactly the same quality as the stairs themselves that are delivered to their customers. All the materials we use are surplus materials, both in pine and oak, all in 40mm solid wood. In other words, all Rewo products are based on sustainable and environmentally friendly materials.
Can you deliver products based on drawings?
- As of today, we have a manual production process that is in collaboration with a production facility in Kaupanger that specializes in solid wood products. This makes us very flexible on all tailor-made projects, whether it should be tables, interiors or something else. We constantly deliver on drawing-based projects from architects.
Can you deliver tables both with and without a base?
- If desired, we can only deliver the tabletop itself, regardless of the size. The important thing here is that the undercarriage the customer already has is strong enough for the table top, as solid oak and pine can become heavy with large enough boards.
How long is the delivery time and where do you manufacture the products?
- Rewo operates with delivery times of between 2 - 6 weeks, it depends somewhat on the size of the order and the project. The production itself takes place in Kaupanger, only a short drive from Stryn, where the materials come from.
Are the materials EFC certified?
- Yes, all the materials we receive from Stryntrappa are FSC certified. FSC is a global non-profit labeling scheme for wood and paper. In an FSC forest, no more trees are felled than the forest can reproduce.
Can you show CO2 savings on individual products and projects?
- We at Rewo take great pride in the fact that our products store large amounts of CO2 that the materials and wood have accumulated over a long time. In this connection, we always measure the CO2 footprint of each product, including emissions from shipping and production. The thickness and quality of the wood mean that all our products are CO2-negative, which means that compared to similar products we have both lower emissions, but also store large amounts of CO2.
Are there any restrictions on size, shape, color or anything else?
- This is a perfect example of how Rewo stands out from other suppliers. We can deliver unlimited adaptations to projects, everything from shape, size, design, small details and color can be 100% determined and adjusted by architects, suppliers and customers.
Can you supply tailor-made visualizations to give a concrete picture of what the product will look like?
- We are lucky enough to have a skilled designer on the team who frequently adds visualizations to projects. This gives the opportunity to see and get a concrete feeling of what the product will be like.
